1. Explain how employment opportunities have expanded as the ICT industry has developed: There are now many more types of careers in the ICT industry with most items having computers of some sort e.g. Cars, toys, washing machines etc.

Describe two positions not considered as ICT-specific roles where information technology skills are an essential requirement: Ordering equipment for your company and just doing everyday operations in most work places would require knowledge in ICT.

Identify requirements that employers have for employees desiring to begin employment-based training: The employee would have to have completed year12, show an interest in the career path and have the appropriate personal skills related to the role.

Describe the types of people that TAFE courses generally target: TAFE courses are targeted at young people entering the workforce, mature-age people returning to the workforce or retraining, or people preparing for other types of study.

Identify the types of courses provided by private training providers: Private training providers have short courses to advanced diplomas in a wide range of fields.

Describe the types of careers available in the education field of the ICT industry: Education, multimedia and graphic, technical, business and support and project management.

Describe the skills required for careers within the project management field of ICT: They need to have good written and verbal communication skills, be able to manage a number of projects, a logical and lateral thinker and willing to accept responsibility and accountability.

From the table of ICT positions, select two positions that you might be interested in as a career. For each position, identify the tasks undertaken in the role, the personal and entry requirements, and the employment opportunities for the position: a) Computer engineer- they install, repair and service computers and associated equipment. Usually you would need a university degree for entry into this line of work. Computer engineers are employed by a big number of work places.
b) Desktop publisher- They produce professionally designed and presented documents. Entry in to this career is possible without formal qualifications but it would enhance you opportunities by completing a proper certificate

Describe the types of information available online about ICT careers: Most universities have there own websites which will tell you what is required for the entry into certain courses, costs and career pathways.

Explain why students would benefit from attending training institution open day: You would benefit because you can get any information you require there as well as being able to speak to the lecturers that take that course as well as being able to view the facility
